Award

Approved by the National Office for Science & Technology Awards and the Ministry of Science and Technology, the CSMPTE established Science and Technology Award (Society Award of National Science & Technology Award Certificate No.0073) which consists of two sub-awards: Progress Prize in Scientific, and Science and Technology Talent Award. It aims at rewarding groups and individuals who have made outstanding achievements or prominent contributions to scientific research, technological development and innovation, popularization and application of scientific and technological achievements and industrial progress in the fields of radio, film & television and network audiovisual. As an important national-level award in the industry, Science and Technology Award of the CSMPTE has been used as an important reference in evaluation of professional and technical titles and assessment of scientific and technological talents in the fields of radio, film & television.

Level Evaluation:

Guided by China Association for Science and Technology, the CSMPTE and the Chinese Institute of Electronics, facing those of the Broadcast & TV Engineering major, jointly carry out electronic information professional technical level evaluation in the fields of radio, film & television, so as to continuously enrich and perfect the evaluation system for engineering and technical personnel of non-public economic organizations in the fields of radio, film & television and network audiovisual.

Science and Technology Evaluation:

In order to promote the conversion of science and technology achievements and the enhancement of science and technology level, to promote the scientifical and technological innovation and the application and popularization of scientifical and technological projects, and to participate in social innovation management, the CSMPTE, entrusted by governments and relevant corporates, evaluates technical projects, research achievements, and evaluation in the industry. The Accrediting Board consists of experts who are influential and rich experienced.

Electing/Nominating academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering;

Academician, as the highest academic title in science, technology and engineering, is a lifelong honor established by the State. The CSMPTE is one of the national associations subordinate to China Association for science and technology and is qualified to elect (nominate) academicians of “both houses” to the Association for Science and Technology. Every two years, the CSMPTE submits one to two academician candidates to the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Young talent lifting project

Young talent lifting project, initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology and implemented by the CSMPTE (among others), is a young talent selection and training program aimed at finding and supporting a group of outstanding young talents aged around 32 years old who engaged in radio, film & television industry; at the same time, a training platform will be built for these young talents to help them enter into the academic circle-training “experts” from the “peers”. Young scientific and technological workers selected for the project (to be supported) will receive three consecutive years of stable funding from the association.

Every year, the society would hold a series of large academic conferences. These influential technical exchange conferences represent the highest level of technology communication in the industry, which reflects the academic status of the society:

1. Beijing International Television Technology Conference (ITTC): Beijing International Television Technology Conference (ITTC), started in 1993, is a fairly influential technology exchange conference in domestic media industry. With the goal of leading media strategic development and focusing on promoting the construction of integrated communication, the conference not only discusses directional innovation strategies, but also concentrates on specific application deployment. In view of new situations, new changes and new characteristics of the media environment at home and abroad, and being confronted with new business, new process and new direction in current radio television & film industry, the conference adopts keynote speeches and professional forums to discuss and exchange points in terms of core technology, front technology, key technology and common technology that affect the development of media convergence. As a famous symposium in Chinese TV industry, it serves a more and more prominent role in the promotion and development of new television techniques and is a high-end platform and an important brand for thorough exchange and extensive cooperation between domestic and foreign TV technology counterparts.

2. ‘World Television Day’ China Television Conference: Launched in 2015, the China Television Conference is held every year around November 21, the World Television Day. The conference has professional forums that focus on hot topics such as media convergence, advanced video and audio technology, short video and MCN, content production and innovation, international and regional cooperation, and cross-border cooperation in the television industry, and also has special exhibitions and mass popularization activities of science. Every year, more than one thousand people, including senior experts, scholars and representatives of industry practitioners from domestic and abroad, are attracted to the conference.

3. International Conference on Advanced Imaging (ICAI): The International Conference on Advanced Imaging (ICAI), which focuses on the future of imaging technology and visual art, special venue images, high-tech format images, immersive image production, and other topics, invites experts, scholars, well-known creators, and representatives of leading enterprises in related fields at home and abroad to participate. At each year’s conference, there are exhibitions, workshops, and other activities along with technical forums, making it an annual carnival for professionals in the field of advanced imaging in China.

Brand training

Adhering to the concept of technological innovation promoting media innovation, the CSMPTE has started high-quality professional training courses of “TV Broadcasting Security Seminar”, “TV Program Technical Quality Control Training Course”, and “Senior Manager Training Course on Radio and Television Information System Operation and Maintenance: Service Management and Standards Application”, which are committed to continuously improving the professionalism of radio and television practitioners, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of radio and television industry in the era of media convergence.

Science activities

Since its establishment, the CSMPTE has been playing an important role in boosting the development and popularization of new audiovisual technology. Under the guidance and support of China Association for Science and Technology, the society, taking its professional advantages in radio, film & television, motivates individual and corporate members to participate in the popularization of corresponding technologies. Through various activities to popularize scientific knowledge, the enthusiasm of radio, film and technology workers in science communication is aroused, and infotainment and attractiveness of science popularization education is enhanced. Thus, such activities pushed public learning and understanding of science and technology, and the society gained extensive social influence.

Standard Research

The CSMPTE promotes the standardization process in radio, film & television industry by strengthening research on testing technology, formulating and promoting the instructive group standards under the new technology system. The CSMPTE tracks the development trend, industry standards and test status in the fields of radio, film & television, and assembles internal resources of the society, so as to study and promote standards of the society through technical cooperation. Since the group standards formulated by the society have been opened to the public on the national group standards information platform, many standards, research results of the society have been adopted by the government as industry standards. Thus, the development of radio, film & television technology is pushed forward.

The branches of China Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers are specialized activity organizations established based on needs for developing industries relating to radio, film & television, and network audiovisual. The branches unite experts of dispersed technical fields, and constitute an important part of the academic development and organization construction of the society. Any legal enterprises, government-affiliated institutions, and regional societies of motion picture and television engineers, which have a certain number of scientific and technological personnel and hold research, education, production, and design activities related to film, television, broadcast and audio-visual technology, may apply for a corporate member of the CSMPTE on condition that they support the articles of the society, will to participate in the activities, and could pay membership fees.

Academic activities

Corporate members have the right to obtain the annual activity plan of the CSMPTE and to participate activities such as conferences, forums, trainings, and exhibitions organized by the CSMPTE (‘World Television Day’ China Television Conference, Beijing International Television Technology Conference (ITTC), International Conference on Advanced Imaging (ICAI), etc.) for free or preferential treatment.

Exclusive interests:

1. Right to convey the appeal and the voice of scientific and technological workers to the CSMPTE or to higher organs through the CSMPTE;

2. Right to apply for publishing relevant publicity documents of corporate members on the website and public account of the CSMPTE;

3. Right to apply for participating in the scientific research and development projects led by the superior departments of the society and the society itself;

4. Right to participate in the professional and technical level evaluation, science and technology evaluation, group standard development and so on.

Qualification for award promotion:

Corporate members are qualified to recommend candidates for Science and Technology Award of the CSMPTE every year. In particular, Chairman/Vice Chairman units: 20 candidates; Executive director members: 15 candidates; council members: 5 candidates.

Individual Membership

Individual members include Student members, Regular members, Senior members, Expert members, Foreign members and Expert Advisors. Any individual or student who is interested in the professions of the society, admits the constitution of the society, is willing to participate in the activities of the society, and is active in supporting the work of the society, can apply for membership.
